Welcome to my journal. I ramble a lot about a multitude of things, a significant amount of which is locked. Enjoy anyway. Admire the pretty layout. I'm also a beta-reader, and have worked in multiple different fandoms, notably Harry Potter, Inception, Star Trek, Sherlock BBC, The Avengers, Merlin, Hannibal and Supernatural. Examples of the lovely pieces I've had the opportunity to work with are here (Inception), here (SPN J2), and here (Avengers). I'm also going to shamelessly pimp out a brilliant Inception/Sherlock work here, the author of whom I had the great pleasure of working with for a short period before life rampaged through. Possessive bugger. Anywho. Feel free to drop me a PM for any reason you like.

Merry Christmas: Just a short, schmoopy fic. Nudging his nose down Jensen’s jaw, Jared whispers, “But that’s okay, ‘cause I love you too.” -- “You better, bitch.” Jensen sits up with a yawn, sleepily rubbing at his eyes with one hand while the other remains in Jared’s hair, keeping the younger man flush against him
Merry Christmas, Oh Brother Mine: Sam gets hurt, John's an asshole, and it's Christmas time:  “Oh, you little…” I leap up after him and chase him as he jumps across and heads to duck behind the couch. In two steps I leap up and over the couch, landing with a leg on either side of him and promptly sitting down on his thighs, my hands quickly pinning him down. “What’s the matter, little bro’? Should I go easy on you?”

Monster: Some mistakes are irreparable:  His eyes crunch up and then slowly open. Hazel eyes blink up at me for a second before recognition crosses Jared’s features and he yanks his hand away, scrambling backwards, wincing painfully, “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” he murmurs, as if apologising for the contact I initiated.

Never Let You Go: The boys get stuck in an elevator and Jensen discovers his co-star is claustrophobic:  As best friends, they often tease and poke fun at one another. But this is something Jensen will never even think about using against Jared. It’s like the time Danneel broke up with him and he spent the night curled up on Jared’s couch, his head resting on his friend’s lap, his tears soaking Jared’s jeans and a gentle hand running through his hair.
4,000 words, NC-17, hurt/comfort
Oh Shit: Jared's down with the flu when Jensen realises something scary:  “Jensen!” I croak, sounding like a damned frog. I hear a muffled groan, “What?” “I’m dying. I just wanted to let you know that.” “Oh,” there’s silence for a beat, “Can I have your laptop?”
2,000 words, PG, adorable
Possession: Jensen shows Jared who he belongs to:  “Bedroom. Now,” Jensen orders, leaving no room for any arguments. “I want you naked and waiting for me in two minutes.” A deep flush spreads across the younger man’s cheeks; his eyes darting to Misha and then back to Jensen. Slowly, he nods and leaves the room.

Silent Goodbye: After everything that's happened, Sam can't take it anymore. He leaves a note:   I’m to blame for everything. For Mom’s death. For Dad’s death. For your lack of a childhood. For your lack of a loving home. For your lack of a normal life. For Jess’ death. For Madison’s death. For every single fucking thing that’s ever gone wrong in our lives, I’m the one to blame.

SO Who Won The bet: Chad and Misha set out on a mission:  Crouching low, they sneak across the lawn, racing towards the nearby house and diving from bush to bush. Once they reach the entrance, Chad darts up, quickly entering the five-digit code and holding it open while Misha sneaks in after him.

So You Can love Again: Jared just needs to make sure Jensen will be alright. He cuts me off. “Yeah, I know, you’re ‘sorry’. Fuck you, Jared. I’m going out.” Pausing to grab his shoes and wallet, he storms out of the room. Seconds later I hear the front door bang. angst, schmoop, mentions of a character death.
Imperfect Love: Ever since an accident on a hunt three years ago, Sam's had a phobia of being in water. Shaking his head with a fond smile, Sam reached up to squeeze Dean’s shoulder.
“You can’t protect me from everything, Dean.” “Yes I can!” Dean protested, completely affronted. “Of course I can!” Sam just smiled and slid from Dean’s grasp.

You're Mine, Kid: After seeing Sam with another guy, Dean realises something:   When the teen laughs, white teeth flashing as he knocks his shoulder against Sam’s in a gesture so comfortable it makes me squirm, I clench my hands into fists. As Sam begins climbing the stairs, something hot and biting pools in my stomach when I realize this Brad guy is checking out my baby brother’s ass.

Worlds Apart: In medieval days, a peasant has no standing in society according to the nobles So then why does Sir Ackles suddenly take an interest in peasant-boy Jared? Is it Jared's dream finally coming true, or something else...?
8,000 words, PG-13, hurt!Jared, hint bottom!Jared.
Without Words: The relationship between Jared and Jensen is a special one. They don't need words to communicate; they only need each other. No one else even comes close. As predicted, two steps past the threshold, you look up, straight into my eyes. A smile breaks out on your lips, even as you continue talking. You’re trying not to get distracted, but I know, as I pull a weird face, that you’ll fail.
~1,200 words, schmoop, sex, NC-17,
When Are we leaving: Dean's a drifter, used to relying on himself and never trusting others. Jared's a young, innocent man in one of the towns Dean passes through. Dean swallowed, knowing Jared could read his eyes like an open book. The sunglasses were a shield of sorts, one that he needed to be strong enough to let Jared go. “Jay, that doesn’t-” Before he could say another word, Jared’s fingers slid up, tugging the shades off.

What Happens After: The boys find a solution to their future:  “I…” suddenly my throat seems dry and my face is heating up. But I get the feeling that my next sentence is going to determine what happens next, so I choose it carefully. “Man, don’t go getting a big head about it, but you know I’d go anywhere for you, Sasquatch.
2,500 words, PG-13, cute
What Do You Want Me To Be: When Sam breaks, will Dean be able to notice in time?:  “Drive… please,” I whisper to my driver. Resting my head against the cold glass, I take one last look at my brother. His eyes lock with mine over the shoulder of the girl he’s practically humping in the middle of the parking lot. I hold his gaze for as long as it takes for the cab to pull away.

Water Crashing Over Me: Ever since an accident on a hunt three years ago, Sam's had a phobia of being in water. Want A Kiss with that cut: Jared gets a new hairdresser - Jensen:  “You totally snatched him. You were on break!” He grinned evilly, “Well, you two were bickering so nicely, I didn’t want to disturb anything.” They glared at him and he continued, “Besides, you had Depp,” he pointed to Shannon, “and you had Bloom,” to Jeannie. “It was my turn for some hotness.”
10,000 words, PG-13, angst, schmoop, AU
Waiting: Jensen's been waiting for Jared his whole life:   There’s a warmth around his shoulders which can only mean Jared’s draped an arm round him. Raising his head slightly, just enough to peer up at his teddy (who he is hugging like a small kid), he meets Jared’s glance, and gets a soft smile and gentle eyes accompanied by the tightening of the arm around him and the soft murmuring of, “Sleep, man. I’ll be here.”
3,000 words, PG-13, schmoop
Twisted Truths:
Jensen is a police officer who leads a case against Jared:  He woke in a cold sweat, Jared’s pleading, pain-filled eyes boring holes into his as he begged Jensen to stop hurting him. He felt sick with guilt. Or at least he did until he reminded himself that Jared was just a con-artist- that he had tried to use Jensen.

Jared was betrayed by his best friend. Eleven years later, he discovers who is playing as his co-star in Supernatural. I don’t even know if he genuinely wants to apologise, but nearly every time he opens his mouth, he breaks me that tiny bit more.
11,000 words, pg-13, hurt/comfort, hurt!Jared, hints-bottom!Jared.
To Steal an Angel's Heart: Jensen is an angel. He's finally found perfection in the form of a mortal. The millenniums of loneliness all seem meaningless. Everything I’ve seen and done is nothing compared to this. Writhing beneath me with your hard planes moulding to fit against me, you’re shifting from being a human to being something else entirely.  You’re becoming mine.

Sometimes All It takes:  Jensen watches something while on holiday with Danneel:  Just as he’s about to crawl up his friend’s body and kiss every inch of him, Jensen stops. “Wait a second.”He wanders over to Jared’s desktop and quickly opens up youtube. “There’s something I want to show you."

Missed the deadline for this, but I quite like this idea.

"So, here’s the drill –

I want you to take one thing and describe it ten different ways.

That thing can be… anything. An object. A person. A sensation. A place. An experience.

But I want you to focus on it and describe it multiple ways. Ten, as noted.

Each no more than a sentence of description."

Thoughts? Care to chip in, S?

S, if you write this for me, I will build golden statues in your honour.

Sam/Dean, Dean meets his soulmate (Castiel).

(AU where Castiel's non-human? Humans and their non-human partners, which makes it all the more rare and coveted.)

Inspired by prompt: I would like a spin on the soulmate trope.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of soulmates, so I'd like to see a story where Jared and Jensen have been dating for a few years now. They live in a world where the concept of soulmates has become common and socially accepted to the point that people are expected to just drop their current partners when they meet their soulmate and are seen as weird when they don't.

When Jensen runs into Jeff and instantly realizes that Jeff is his soulmate, Jared doesn't wait for Jensen to dump him, since it hurts enough to know that Jensen is going to leave him.

Only to be surprised when Jensen does come home and not just to pick up his stuff, but to stay. Because soul mate or not, Jared is the one he chose to live and whom means everything to him.

Dean and Sam in an established relationship, and they have their ups and downs: but in the end they really love one another. Then Dean meets Castiel. Castiel is not just new, he's complementary in all the right ways. He's strong, and has a dry sense of humor, and rolls with Dean's hot-headedness better than Sam ever did, and is completely interested in the same things as Dean. Cue Dean, completely conflicted, secretly meeting up with Castiel (who' s completely understanding). Dean in denial, thinking they could just be friends, friends maybe.

Sam finds out about Castiel (without Dean knowing.), prods Dean a little to see how in love he is. Then Sam goes to Castiel, vets him out. Realizes how perfect they are for each other, and does what he would for the man he loves. He lets Dean go.

Then Castiel lets it slip that Sam knows. And Dean confronts Sam about it, asks why he'd let it go on, and Sam says he wants Dean to be happy. Sam understands. He's already got a place in mind to stay, to move out of their apartment.

"He's the one, Dean. Your other half."
"Yes, but I met your first. And I don't need soulmate. I have you, and that's good enough for me. It perfect for me."
"You deserve it. You deserve better than me."
"Sam, you idiot. I don't care who the world thinks I should be with. I decide who I want to spend the rest of my life with, and that's you. I chose you, because I love you."
Because Sam was there when he'd needed it. Sam had brought him through his father's death, away from alcoholism. Soulmates could go fuck themselves.

There's a mark that those with soulmates have. A soulmark, an intricate design that is believed to be a physical/visual representation of the soul. Researchers and scholars have spent years trying to decipher the lines and symbols, with little success. There are soulcode guides in self-help sections. Like tea leaf divination, people try to see things within: animals, trees, shapes. Lions mean your soulmate is brave. Darker, bolder marks mean your soulmate is strong-willed. Large marks equals a large ego/heart. There's little actual proof. Marks can be all over the body, though commonly on the chest, arms, hands, sometimes the face or neck.

A faded mark means your soulmate's dead. A blank slate. A loose end. A lone wolf. Solo. Stag. Blanks. Unbonded.

Unbondeds still hooked up with markeds, but were generally prepared to be dumped. Sam was unbonded. Dean was marked, but hadn't met his bonded for a long while.

So that's where that came from. The things you learn.

Wow okay. So many things I did not like about this episode.

-The way none of the knights did anything to try and defend Merlin.
The way none of the knights even seem suspicious of Gwen's behaviour for that matter.
-"A tincture. With the power to kill. Not just to kill, but to do so slowly and with the utmost pain." I was promised whump. Where is it.

-Gwaine remembers the conversation he'd had with Merlin.
-Gwen/Arthur. After awaking. No, it can't be Merlin. Merlin as the one who would never betray.
-Merlin sneaks out of the cell; he is the only one who can comfort Arthur?
-council room. Merlin supports Arthur.

"Melin has been arrested for treason. He's been in the dungeons for two nights now, sire," Gwaine added.
Arthur: SPAZZES.
Gwaine: APPROVES.

"I’m going to start with ‘at the end’ because it's got more than one meaning. It can refer to the end of a physical location, like ‘at the end of our street’. It can also mean a metaphorical end, like ‘at the end of the story’ or ‘at the end of the movie’. This phrase can also mean the end point of a period of time. Some examples of this usage are:

| The teacher set some homework at the end of the lesson. |
| I’m going on holiday at the end of the week.                       |

So, what about ‘in the end’ then? Well, it’s an adverb phrase which means ‘finally’. Here’s an example:

I complained about the pizza so, in the end, I didn’t have to pay for it.
We waited for an hour and, in the end, we went without her.

Well, I’m ‘at the end’ of my explanation now, so I hope you can successfully discriminate between the two phrases now!"

So: at the end --> used for physical or metaphorical or time-related locations
in the end --> 'in the end,' --> never 'in the end of', used more often in dialogue?

We've all forgotten that moment when you realize you'll never play in the World Cup Final, or be the first man on Mars - and all those daydreams become fantasies rather than possibilities. --Third Star.

So I raise a morphine toast to you all, and, if you should happen to remember, it's the anniversary of my birth. Remember that you were loved by me, and that you made my life a happy one, and there's no tragedy in that --Third Star

Moments that made my heart hurt.
10 August 2012 @ 01:59 am

The world is growing smaller as you grow taller, up and up and up. One day you'd thought if you grew tall enough and reached high enough, you'd touch the edges of the sky with the very tips of your fingers. When you were young you fell asleep to songs of babies falling and missing stars. You heard but didn't listen, and you know better now.

Sometimes in the dark dark when sleep slips in through the cracks of your mind you open your eyes. You open them wide and put your hand right in front of your face and see the nothingness that has engulfed your hand whole. You try and imagine a life like this, except with the feel of sunlight on your skin and whispers behind your back and books that will always now be closed to you.

Sometimes when the house is empty you close your eyes and make your way from your bedroom to the kitchen to the bathroom to the living room, hands reaching out and grasping air, moving one step forward for every tick tick tick of the second hand.
